Council Endorses Candidates for
November 2019 Elections

Below are the endorsements of your Union for the State Assembly and local office contests that will take place this Election Day on November 5.

These endorsements were made and approved by your fellow faculty, librarians and professional staff who serve on your local union COPE (Committee on Political Education) committees and as delegates to the Council of New Jersey State College Locals, AFT, AFL-CIO.  Nearly all have also been endorsed by the NJ State AFL-CIO.

All endorsed candidates, both incumbents and challengers, are committed to quality affordable public higher education, public sector collective negotiations and labor and civil rights in general. As they are willing and able to work with us to advance our agenda, they have earned our support.

Since there are no state-wide or federal elections taking place this November, turn-out is expected to be low.  Therefore, it is even more important that engaged voters like yourself come out to the polls or vote by mail ballot so that your vote really counts and the reactionary forces that oppose us cannot pull off any surprise upsets.

We especially encourage taking part in this Saturday's final Labor Walk of the season on November 2nd. Sponsored by Central Labor Councils throughout the state, Labor Walks are the key to building worker power. Every union is encouraged to provide volunteers between 9 AM to Noon each Saturday through Election Day.  When you check in, identify yourself by your local union and you will be paired with another volunteer and sent off to knock on the doors of union members and their families for a few hours.

See the schedule here.  It is a good idea to call the contact person before you go.

Together we can make a difference!
