    Full Time/Part Time Unit
    Agreement Successfully Ratified

    92% Vote YES

    September 28, 2007

After the Full-time/Part-time bargaining unit reached a tentative agreement with the State on July 23rd, the Council posted highlights of the agreement, an extensive FAQ page, copies of the tentative agreement sign off items and the new salary tables on our web site. In another effort to get out ratification information and to stem a growing flow of misinformation about the new contract, managing staff representative Steve Young attended several local membership meetings to review the new agreement and address questions and concerns about the new deal.  He also answered numerous e-mail questions regarding the terms.

It was apparent that the important non-stop informational campaign went well. On September 27th, the day the ballots were counted, almost 92% of the voting members accepted the new agreement. The new agreement was ratified by a vote of 1,450 in favor to 134 opposed. There were 12 disqualified ballots. The Council considers this an overwhelming validation of your negotiations team’s months of hard work on your behalf.
